Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. She started her Broadway career in musicals such as Wicked, Legally Blonde and Hair. In her performance as Essie In You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with actors and directors on stage and screen for all of her career. Ashford is set to next appear alongside Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford is currently working for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. The film is an Hulu Original and will be streamed on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in the month of March 2023, when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that brought you Hamilton. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the impeachment crisis that swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons on the hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Also, she has appeared on Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for an Tony Award. Born and raised in Denver Ashford is now dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York.
